White luxe – Save, spend or splurge?

The It-girl staple anyone can wear? From Alexa Chung to Gigi Hadid, if you’re not wearing a fresh pair of bright white sneakers, you need to go home and change. Perfect to take you from work, to drinks, and all the way out on the town. Here are a few of my favourites on the market at the moment (although they do have a habit of selling out, so hurry!)

Update your wardrobe without breaking the bank; after all, they get dirty so easily, no matter how hard you scrub.

Update a classic by choosing red over classic green as your Stan Smiths trim, or add a flash of animal print from Zara on an otherwise clean white shoe. Woven trainers like the ones above are perfect for summer ventilation, but classy enough to wear to work.

Reebok Princess Spirit (£45), Adidas Originals Miss Stan Red (£52),

Zara Leather Platform Sneakers (£40), Adidas Originals ZX Flux (£49),

Asos Daryn Anne Woven Trainers (£32)

For a little more staying power to last you through summer, there’s a great range of mid-priced trainers on the market for you (and yes, that is another pair of Stan Smiths).

But they’re calfskin and super cute and totally different… I swear. Also from Adidas, a floral trim on their classic Superstars. For an offbeat take on the trend, try Michael Kors for summery fringing and laser-cut perforations.

Lima flats (£120), Lakes trainers (£120),

Floral superstars (£67), Calfskin Stan Smiths (£70),

Asics Gel Atlantis (£65), Nike Frees (£85) (£59.50)

Perforated sneakers (circa £85), Topshop elastic sneakers (£55)

These babies cost a pretty penny (pretty being the operative word). With love and nurture, they will last you a lifetime – you just have to be sure you want to wear them that long. If in doubt, I’m sure the Vestiaire Collective will take them off your hands.

Studded sneakers (£570), Senso Marble Trainers (£149),

Tod’s Leather Sneakers (£375), Alexander McQueen Suede Sneakers (£360),

Golden Goose Deluxe Superstars (£280), Gucci leather sneakers (£365),

Alaïa laser-cut sneakers (£500), Giuseppe Zanotti slip-ons (£430)

If you’re still stuck on how to update your sneaker selection for summer, your trends-to-follow include:

  • Room to breathe- perforations and weaving, making your sneakers summer-ready.
  • Flashy; studs, chains and metallic detailing.
  • Pops of colour, from Gucci’s classic combination to Zara’s dash of animals print.

Don’t forget to keep them really clean! Yes, even the Golden Goose (I know it’s supposed to look like that!) If you do manage to get them dirty, a toothbrush will help you get the muck out of those crevices. Just don’t use it to clean your teeth afterwards.

Peace and love,

The NCLinsider xx
